Metal

Aluminum
Aluminum is a lightweight yet exceptionally durable material, ideal for contemporary urban furniture and bench construction. It offers natural resistance to corrosion, will never rust, and requires minimal maintenance throughout its lifetime. In addition, aluminum is 100% recyclable, making it an environmentally responsible choice for sustainable cityscapes and architectural projects.
Lightweight Strengt
UrbanForming aluminum benches deliver the same level of strength and performance as steel, yet weigh up to 60% less. This reduced weight simplifies transportation, installation, and structural planning-particularly beneficial for rooftop terraces, balconies, and other load-sensitive environments. Our products are crafted from ASTM B209 5052-H32 marine-grade aluminum alloy, ensuring high structural integrity and resilience in all weather conditions.
Precision Engineering
Our advanced engineering capabilities allow us to adapt seamlessly to projects of any scale while maintaining exceptional build quality. We carefully select aluminum thicknesses based on design and application, optimizing both strength and efficiency. Each component is laser-cut, welded, and finished with precision to achieve clean edges, watertight joints, and a refined appearance.

Corten Steel
Corten Steel is a popular material choice in modern landscape and urban furniture design, known for its rich, warm tones and exceptional durability. Favored by architects and designers, Corten Steel develops a protective, self-healing patina that shields the surface from further corrosion while giving each bench a distinct natural character. Our benches are made from high-quality A588 and A606 grade Corten Steel, precisely welded and assembled, featuring stainless steel details that ensure longevity and refined aesthetics.
Natural Weathering Process
Each Corten Steel product is shipped with its natural mill finish. Once exposed to outdoor elements, it begins a gradual oxidation process that evolves over time-from a bright orange hue to a deep, earthy brown. Factors like humidity, air salinity, and local climate influence how quickly and evenly this patina forms, making every piece unique.
Pre-Weathered Finish
To meet project timelines or achieve a consistent look from the start, UrbanForming also offers a pre-weathered finish. This eco-friendly treatment accelerates the patina formation, providing the appearance of naturally aged steel right out of the box. The process includes grit-blasting the steel surface followed by a treatment using natural solutions, ensuring an authentic, sustainable result.

Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is synonymous with strength, precision, and timeless design. At UrbanForming, we use stainless steel for benches and architectural elements that demand exceptional durability and a refined, contemporary finish. Composed of iron, carbon, and a minimum of 10.5% chromium, stainless steel naturally resists corrosion, oxidation, and staining-making it ideal for long-term outdoor use in all climates. Its sleek, modern aesthetic complements both urban and landscape environments while offering outstanding structural integrity.
Material Performance
Stainless steel stands out for its combination of tensile strength, resistance to extreme temperatures, and minimal maintenance needs. It is also 100% recyclable, making it a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious projects. Depending on design intent, our stainless steel components can be finished in brushed or non directional surfaces, each enhancing the visual character of the material while preserving its natural resilience.
Grades and Applications
UrbanForming primarily works with two premium stainless steel grades-304 and 316-selected for their proven reliability and performance. Grade 304 stainless steel, containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel, offers excellent corrosion resistance and high formability, making it well-suited for most architectural furniture applications. For installations in coastal areas or harsh environments, we use Grade 316, which includes 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum for superior resistance against salt and chemical exposure.

Galvanized Steel
Galvanized steel is a reliable and durable choice for outdoor furniture, offering excellent protection against corrosion and wear. At UrbanForming, we use a cold galvanization process—also known as zinc-rich coating—to achieve a clean, uniform, and long-lasting protective layer. This method ensures that our steel benches maintain their structural integrity and visual appeal even in demanding urban environments.
Cold Galvanization Process
Our cold galvanization process applies a zinc-rich primer directly onto the steel surface through spraying or brushing. The steel is first sandblasted to near white metal to achieve maximum adhesion. The primer contains up to 95% pure zinc in the dry film, forming a strong, conductive barrier that actively resists rust and corrosion through cathodic protection. This coating bonds tightly to the surface, offering consistent coverage on steel of any size or geometry.
Performance and Durability
The zinc-rich coating not only prevents oxidation but also self-protects by sacrificing zinc particles before the steel can corrode. This ensures extended service life and dependable performance across a wide range of environmental conditions. For projects requiring additional protection, the zinc-rich primer serves as a base for high-performance multi-layer coating systems, further enhancing resistance against moisture, salt, and UV exposure.
Powder Coating

Powder coating is a durable and visually refined finishing solution that enhances both the protection and aesthetic of our metal benches. At UrbanForming, we apply premium polyester powder coatings to achieve a smooth, even surface with excellent resistance to weather, UV exposure, and wear. This process ensures lasting color vibrancy and a low-maintenance finish that performs beautifully in any outdoor setting.
Surface Preparation
A flawless powder-coated finish begins with meticulous surface preparation. Each component is precisely ground to remove imperfections and create an ideal surface profile. After cleaning and degreasing all contaminants, we apply a zinc-rich primer that forms a strong, corrosion-resistant base layer. This primer not only protects the steel against oxidation but also provides excellent intercoat adhesion, ensuring the top layer bonds perfectly to the substrate.
Application and Curing
Once the surface is fully prepared, a high-quality polyester powder-coat is applied electrostatically to achieve uniform coverage, even on complex geometries. The coated parts are then oven-cured at controlled temperatures, allowing the powder to melt and form a seamless, protective layer. The result is a resilient, fade-resistant finish that combines long-term durability with modern visual appeal.
Color and Customization
UrbanForming offers a broad selection of powder-coat colors and textures-from matte neutrals to vibrant architectural tones-allowing each bench to complement its surrounding environment. This finish not only protects but also enhances the design, adding character and distinction to every UrbanForming product.
Wood

Wood brings a natural warmth and timeless character to every UrbanForming bench. Whether you choose a tropical hardwood or a thermally modified species, each type of wood adds a distinct texture and tone that softens architectural environments and complements metal structures. Selected for strength, stability, and visual appeal, our wood slats are crafted to withstand outdoor use while aging gracefully over time.
Natural Weathering
All wood exposed to the elements will eventually develop a silvery-gray patina—a natural transformation caused by UV rays and moisture. This process varies depending on climate and exposure but is part of the wood’s organic character. Although protective sealers can slow this change, no finish can permanently prevent it. To provide a balanced level of protection and rich appearance, we oil all wood surfaces before delivery.
Protection and Maintenance
Our wood components are finished with a high-quality UV-protectant oil that nourishes the grain and slows the aging process while maintaining the wood’s natural tone. Over time, reapplication of oil can restore depth and color as desired. For projects seeking minimal maintenance, we can also supply wood untreated—allowing it to weather naturally into its distinctive silver-gray finish.
Sustainability and Craftsmanship
UrbanForming sources all timber from responsibly managed forests and verified suppliers. Each piece is precision-cut, sanded, and finished to ensure long-lasting performance and refined appearance. The result is a surface that balances authenticity, durability, and modern craftsmanship—enhancing both comfort and design in every outdoor space.
